US Net Worth Percentile Calculator

Compare your household net worth with all US families based on weighted Federal Reserve Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF) data.

Linear interpolation between weighted wealth quantile thresholds

P(x) ≈ p₍L₎ + ((x - x₍L₎) / (x₍U₎ - x₍L₎)) (p₍U₎ - p₍L₎)

Weighted percentile boundaries are computed using the complex survey sample design weights across pooled Federal Reserve SCF implicates. Amounts falling between benchmark quantiles are linearly interpolated.

How to calculate your net worth percentile

  1. 1

    Total all family assets

Include primary residence fair market value, secondary properties, 401(k)/IRA retirement accounts, brokerage portfolios, checking/savings, vehicles, and privately held business equity.

  2. 2

    Subtract all liabilities

Deduct primary and secondary mortgages, home equity lines of credit (HELOC), auto loans, student loans, and revolving credit card balances.

  3. 3

    Review your wealth echelon

Compare your family balance sheet against the national median ($216,100), the multi-millionaire top decile ($2.54M), and the elite top 1% ($16.27M).

A reproducible median example

Choose U.S. SCF families — 2025 and enter $216,100: the estimate is the 50th percentile. The gap to the 90th-percentile threshold of $2,538,520 is $2,322,420.

Data version and calculation method

Federal Reserve Board — 2025 Survey of Consumer Finances, public summary extract. Uses NETWORTH and WGT, pooling all five implicates with each weight divided by five; AGE is the reference person’s age.

  • Values are in 2025 dollars, not a live 2026 wealth snapshot.
  • Sort values and accumulate survey weights; select the first value reaching the target probability. Five implicates are not five times as many families.
  • These are site-derived public-use microdata estimates. Confidentiality treatment, cohorts and quantile algorithms can produce differences from agency summary tables.
  • Updated October 2026. Sampling confidence intervals have not been estimated; extreme-tail thresholds need particular caution.

What this comparison cannot tell you

National ranks do not adjust for family size, living costs, liquidity, pension entitlements or local prices. Age groups compare different families at one time, not one family’s lifetime wealth path.
