Gematria Calculator

Enter a word, name, phrase, or Hebrew text to calculate Gematria values, compare common systems, and audit every letter in the total.

Simple / ordinal

Simple total = A=1 + B=2 + ... + Z=26.

Gematria Formula

Total = sum of selected letter values

A Gematria total depends entirely on the letter table you choose. Simple uses A=1 through Z=26, English x6 multiplies those values by 6, Jewish Latin uses a larger Latin-letter table, and Hebrew standard uses Hebrew letter values from 1 to 400.

How to Use the Gematria Calculator

  1. 1

    Choose the system first

Pick Simple, English x6, Jewish Latin, Hebrew standard, reduction, or reverse. Do not compare totals from different systems as if they were the same scale.

  2. 2

    Enter the word or phrase

Type an English word, a name, a sentence, or Hebrew text. The selected system determines which characters count.

  3. 3

    Calculate and compare

The highlighted result is the selected system. Other compatible systems are shown beside it so you can see how much the table changes the total.

  4. 4

    Check the breakdown

Use the selected-system breakdown to verify each character value before interpreting or sharing a result.

  5. 5

    Use the value table

The table below the result shows the exact mapping used for the selected system, so you can repeat the calculation by hand.

Which Gematria System Should You Use?

Most Gematria searches fail because the system is not named. Choose the table that matches the source you are comparing against, then keep that system consistent.

English x6Tools that define English values as 6, 12, 18, and so onA-Z letters

How to Calculate Gematria by Hand

A hand check is simple once the table is fixed. Write the text, remove unsupported characters for that system, assign a value to each counted letter, and add the values.

  • For CODE in Simple Gematria: C=3, O=15, D=4, E=5, so the total is 27.
  • For the same CODE in English x6, multiply each simple value by 6, giving 162.
  • For Hebrew text, use the Hebrew table rather than trying to force Hebrew letters into an English alphabet.

How to Compare Names and Phrases

Gematria is useful for symbolic comparison, wordplay, and studying how different tables behave. A match is only meaningful inside the same system and the same text-cleaning rules.

  • Record the exact system beside every value.
  • Compare normalized spellings, especially for names with alternate transliterations.
  • Use the breakdown to catch missing letters, copied punctuation, or an accidental Hebrew-versus-Latin mismatch.

Jewish and Hebrew Gematria Notes

The Jewish Latin option lets English text use a Jewish-style Latin mapping. The Hebrew standard option is separate and reads Hebrew letters directly. These are different workflows, so their totals should not be treated as interchangeable.

  • Hebrew final forms are counted with the same value as their base letters in this standard table.
  • Some traditions use special final-letter values; use a dedicated table if that is the rule you need.
  • Numbers, punctuation, emoji, and unsupported scripts are ignored for the selected system.
